Oak Forest, Illinois seeks to extend TIF for commercial and apartment project

On 2026-04-22, Oak Forest officials asked Bremen High School District 228 to approve extending the city's tax increment financing district for a planned four-building commercial and apartment development. The request was tied to negotiations with Deshe Real Estate Group, which said it could not finance the project without about $8 million in TIF assistance. The extension would allow the project to receive incentives beyond the district's 2039 expiration year.
