April pay increase in the UK brings £900 wage boost for millions

On 2026-04-05, the Government of the United Kingdom implemented an April wage rule change raising the National Living Wage by 4.1% to £12.71 an hour for eligible workers aged 21 and over. The change was reported to lift gross annual earnings by about £900 for a full-time worker and affect around 2.4 million low-paid workers.
