Uganda government refuses to cut taxes on mobile money

On 2026-04-15, Uganda's Ministry of Finance dropped a proposal to reduce taxes on mobile money withdrawals from the 2026/2027 budget. Treasury Secretary Ramathan Ggoobi said the cut is not among the proposed revenue measures for the next financial year, leaving the current tax structure unchanged.
