Japan and UNDP launch $2.35 million livelihoods initiative in Afghanistan

On 2026-04-07, the Government of Japan and UNDP launched a $2.35 million livelihoods initiative for vulnerable communities in Afghanistan. The project will fund irrigation, water management, market-support assets, and women-led businesses in provinces including Balkh and Nimroz. It is intended to support alternative livelihoods amid economic hardship and returnee pressures.
