Gov. Polis unveils plan to cut Colorado home insurance costs by up to $800

On 2026-04-25, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Division of Insurance Commissioner Mike Conway unveiled a roadmap aimed at cutting homeowner insurance costs by about $800 a year. The plan targets high premiums driven by hail and wildfires and seeks to move Colorado from the sixth-most-expensive state to the 13th by late next year.
