European Development Bank unveils €5 billion aid for war-hit economies

On 2026-04-09, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development said it would deploy EUR5 billion in 2026 to support economies affected by Middle East conflict. The funds are aimed at Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza, plus neighboring economies such as Egypt, Türkiye, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The bank said the conflict has disrupted trade routes and created energy, commodity, and confidence shocks.
