ESA broadcasts first Celeste navigation signal from low Earth orbit

On 2026-04-10, ESA announced that its Celeste mission broadcast its first navigation signal from low Earth orbit. The signal was described as the first dual-frequency navigation message in the L- and S-band and the first sent from a European satellite in low Earth orbit. The milestone is part of a mission to demonstrate LEO satellite navigation as a complement to Galileo.
