EPA moves to regulate microplastics and pharmaceuticals in drinking water

On 2026-04-03, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a draft drinking-water contaminant list in Washington, D.C. that for the first time included microplastics, alongside pharmaceuticals and other substances, for possible future regulation. The action is an initial policy step and does not itself impose national limits yet.
