On 2026-04-09, five simultaneous power cuts affected the southern Isle of Wight, leaving more than 4,500 homes without electricity. SSEN said the outages stretched across Ventnor, Niton, Whitwell, Chale, and St Lawrence and were traced to a fault on its underground network.
