India and Japan discuss West Asia and Hormuz Strait shipping security

On 2026-04-10, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a telephone conversation with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The two discussed developments in West Asia, safe international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, and closer coordination after recent US-Iran de-escalation steps. Jaishankar also conveyed appreciation for Motegi’s condolences for Indian lives lost in the conflict.
