On 2026-04-21, a coalition of 13 U.S. state attorneys general urged Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover to stop processing payments for unauthorized e-cigarette products. The letter said the card networks were facilitating illegal sales and asked them to take stronger action against merchants selling those products. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson joined the effort.
