NGE and SERAP petition Nigeria’s Tinubu over Wike threat to journalist

On 2026-04-05, the Nigerian Guild of Editors and SERAP issued a joint statement urging the Federal Government to promptly and transparently investigate the threat made by Minister Nyesom Wike against journalist Seun Okinbaloye. They also called on the Tinubu government to take measures to ensure the safety of Okinbaloye and other journalists. The appeal was made in Nigeria and directed at the federal government.
