San Mateo County leaders push $157 million vehicle license fee funding

On 2026-04-07, San Mateo County leaders held a press conference in San Mateo to demand release of $157 million in in-lieu vehicle license fee funding they say the county and cities have not received from the California state government. U.S. Rep. Kevin Mullin, Supervisor Jackie Speier, and other local leaders argued the state had promised the funding and should deliver it.
