Pierre Poilievre challenges PM Carney over Cowichan private property ruling in B.C.

On 2026-04-09, Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, speaking in Richmond, British Columbia, urged Prime Minister Mark Carney's Liberal government to instruct Crown lawyers to defend private property rights in response to a B.C. Supreme Court decision on Aboriginal title. He also called for a parliamentary committee and an emergency study on protecting property rights across Canada.
