Atiku tells Nigeria’s National Assembly to fix Electoral Act loophole before 2027

On 2026-04-22, former Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar, through a statement issued in Abuja, urged the National Assembly to fix what he called a dangerous loophole in the Electoral Act before the 2027 elections. He specifically called for correction of Section 63, arguing that ballot papers without an official mark should not be left to a returning officer's discretion.
