North Coast Nation calls for pause on neighbor’s treaty ratification bill

On 2026-04-15, Lax Kw’alaams and Wei Wai Kum First Nations issued a joint statement calling on the Government of British Columbia to pause legislation ratifying the Kitselas and K’ómoks treaties. They said the process created legal conflict and economic uncertainty and argued that consultation obligations had not been fulfilled.
