Nigeria’s INEC chairman warns about risks to the 2027 elections

On 2026-04-08, the Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, warned broadcast media organisations about misinformation and said irresponsible broadcasting could threaten the credibility of the 2027 General Election. He made the remarks at the 81st General Assembly of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria and urged compliance with the Electoral Act 2026.
