Chicago officials warn of ICE arrests near domestic violence courthouse

On 2026-04-03, Cook County Public Defender’s office officials in Chicago publicly criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement, alleging federal agents were violating Illinois law by making arrests at Chicago-area courthouses. They said agents had been seen entering or waiting outside the Domestic Violence Courthouse on West Harrison Street and that at least two encounters ended in arrests.
