Uber and Volkswagen launch self-driving vans, starting in select cities

On 2026-04-08, Uber and Volkswagen’s autonomous vehicle unit MOIA America began validation testing of self-driving ID Buzz vans on the streets of Los Angeles. The vehicles are initially operating with human onboard supervisors as part of preparations to launch robotaxi service later in the year and expand to additional U.S. cities.
