Dutch government moves toward mandatory barn-fire inspections

On 2026-04-16, Dutch State Secretary of Agriculture Silvio Erkens said in a letter to parliament that he aims to introduce mandatory fire safety and electrical inspections for livestock farms as soon as possible. The proposal is intended to reduce barn fires, with final implementation expected this autumn.
