Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman proposes new protective unit for lawmakers

On 2026-04-21, Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman presented a bill in committee in Saint Paul to create a protective services unit inside the Minnesota State Patrol and Capitol Security. The proposal would provide threat assessments and security for legislators, Supreme Court justices, and other state officials who receive threats.
