Oklahoma school calendar bill adds 7 days as legislation advances

On 2026-04-08, Oklahoma Senate lawmakers advanced House Bill 3151 to consider increasing the state school-year requirement from 166 days to 173 days. Sen. Lonnie Paxton presented the measure in the Oklahoma Capitol, saying it would only take effect if additional education funding is appropriated over the next two years.
