Bill would restrict ICE arrests near California courthouses
source: Eloise G贸mez Reyes -> target: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement
On 2026-04-07, California state Sen. Eloise G贸mez Reyes added language to SB 873 that would require federal officers, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to have a judge-signed warrant before making arrests within 1,000 feet of a state courthouse. The proposal also says it would reinforce protections for people traveling to, attending, or leaving court proceedings for lawful purposes.
