Vietnam raises concerns over EU-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership agreement

On 2026-04-21, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and allied organisations sent a joint letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. They expressed concern over the upgrade of EU-Vietnam relations, the lack of binding human rights safeguards, and reported crackdowns on civic space in Vietnam. The letter was directed at the European Commission in Brussels.
