On 2026-04-13, Nigeria secured a $200 million African Development Bank loan to finance nationwide fibre optic expansion under the D-VIBE/Project BRIDGE programme. The project aims to expand the country's backbone from about 30,000 kilometres to 120,000 kilometres and connect all 774 local government areas to high-speed internet infrastructure.
