Dominican Sisters sue to challenge New York gender-identity law

On 2026-04-07, the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in White Plains against New York State officials, including Gov. Kathy Hochul, over the state's gender-identity law. The complaint says the law violates the sisters' First Amendment rights and religious freedom.
