BC Premier David Eby faces “complete opposition” over DRIPA suspension proposal

On 2026-04-03, British Columbia Premier David Eby said his government would pass legislation this session to suspend certain sections of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act for up to three years. He described the move as the “least invasive” way to reduce legal risk, after meeting with First Nations leaders on Thursday.
