Somalia says it killed 27 al Shabaab militants in operation with international support

On 2026-04-14, Somali armed forces and regional security forces killed 27 al Shabaab militants in an operation in areas of Lower Jubba and Middle Jubba, in Jubbaland state. The defence ministry said the operation was backed by air strikes and that weapons and landmines were seized. The ministry said those killed included key members of the insurgent group.
