Bulgaria seeks EU help to counter election interference ahead of April snap vote

On 2026-04-02, Bulgarian authorities asked the European Union’s diplomatic service for help to identify and disrupt foreign attempts to influence public opinion ahead of the April 19 snap vote. The request focused on social media platforms and propaganda websites, with Russia cited among the external actors of concern. Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry also set up a temporary coordination unit on foreign interference.
