Mnangagwa proposes ID cards to let Zimbabweans cross into Botswana

On 2026-04-22, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa proposed in Harare that Zimbabwe and Botswana use national identity cards instead of passports for cross-border travel. He said the phased framework would ease movement of people and goods and promote bilateral trade between the two countries.
