Guyana steps up advocacy against Corentyne River charges

On 2026-04-09, Guyanese President Irfaan Ali said Guyana would intensify its advocacy to resolve the dispute with Suriname over charges imposed for use of the Corentyne River. He said the issue had already been raised with Surinamese officials during his recent visit and framed the effort as a push to get the matter sorted out.
