India’s PM urges parties to support Women’s Reservation Act amendments

On 2026-04-15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly appealed to all political parties to support amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women’s Reservation Act). He made the appeal at a public meeting in Uttarakhand ahead of Parliament’s special sittings starting April 16, saying the changes were needed to implement women’s quota in the 2029 elections.
