Cambodian Culture Ministry rebukes Thailand’s claims of temple ownership

On 2026-04-13, the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts issued a press statement in Phnom Penh rejecting Thai Culture Minister Sabida Thaiseth’s claim that Ta Krabei and Tamone temples belong to Thailand. The ministry said the sites are entirely within Cambodia’s sovereign territory and cited the 1904 and 1907 Franco-Siamese Treaties and the ICJ’s 1962 Preah Vihear ruling.
