Shereef Elnahal

Shereef Elnahal is an American physician and president of Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). Prior to his appointment, he served as the United States Under Secretary of Veterans Affairs for Health, the 21st commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Health from 2018 to 2019, and the president/CEO of University Hospital in Newark from 2019 to 2022. He also previously served as an Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Quality, Safety and Value from 2016 to 2018.
