Mike Simmons

Michael Simmons is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate from the 7th district, which includes the Chicago neighborhoods of Rogers Park, Edgewater, Andersonville, Uptown, and Lincoln Square. He was appointed to the office in February 2021, and was re-elected in 2022 and 2024, running unopposed both times. In 2025, Simmons announced his candidacy for Illinois's 9th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives and sought to succeed Representative Jan Schakowsky in the 2026 U.S. House elections, placing fourth after Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss.
