Fionnuala Ni Aolain

Fionnuala Ní Aoláin is an Irish academic lawyer specialising in human rights law. She was the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism for the United Nations Human Rights Council from 1 August 2017 - November 2023. In March 2026, she was appointed to the Irish Council of State by President Catherine Connolly.
