Devi Lal

Devi Lal was an Indian statesman and politician who briefly served as the deputy prime minister of India from 1990 to 1991 and previously from 1989 to 1990. Lal emerged as a prominent advocate for rural and agrarian interests, earning the nickname “Tau” for his grassroots appeal in the politics of Haryana. He twice became chief minister of Haryana and had previously played an important role in the formation of the Haryana state in 1966. He founded the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in 1996.
