Ammar Campa-Najjar

Ammar Campa-Najjar is an American politician and former official at the United States Department of Labor. Campa-Najjar has three times been a candidate for the United States House of Representatives. He ran against incumbent Duncan D. Hunter in 2018 earning 48.3 percent of the vote, more than any Democrat in the area’s history. Campa-Najjar ran again in a 2020 campaign to represent California's 50th congressional district and earned more votes than Joe Biden. 2022, he unsuccessfully ran for the position of mayor of Chula Vista, California. In 2023, he joined the United States Navy Reserve, and in 2025, he became a teaching assistant at Georgetown University. He is running for California's 48th congressional district in the 2026 election.
