Digital India

Digital India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India that aims to transform the country into a "digitally empowered society and knowledge economy" by expanding digital infrastructure, promoting e‑governance, and enabling digital delivery of public services. The programme was launched on 1 July 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Digital India Week and is coordinated primarily by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with participation from multiple ministries and state governments.
